Our Ceibal fabric is a homage to the sacred Ceiba tree, a revered symbol of life, growth, and spiritual connection in Mayan culture. Named after this majestic tree, the fabric evokes the profound relationship between the physical and spiritual realms. Each thread and pattern embodies the tree's role as the axis mundi, linking the heavens, earth, and underworld. The Ceibal fabric is a celebration of nature’s enduring strength and the deep-rooted connections that sustain and inspire us.

Crafted on the oldest loom, the backstrap loom, that is worn around the weavers' waists, a practice that dates back over 6,000 years and which is carbon neutral.

ABOUT THE ARTISAN

Made by an all women collective who work on backstrap looms in the mountains of Chiapas, Mexico. We partnered with this collective after visiting San Andres, a village famous for it’s intricate brocade designs and colour. Needless to say, we were not disappointed!
