Chak Brocade Framed Textile – Petrol Blue & Ivory

£995.00

The Chak Brocade is a tribute to the life-giving forces of rain and water, intricately woven with the repeating motif of the frog – an ancient symbol of transformation and fertility. Named after Chak, the Maya god of rain, it embodies the vital connection between the natural world and the land. In the mountains of Mexico, the appearance of frogs signals fertile soils and abundant harvests, marking the cycle of life and renewal.

Woven on a deep, dark petrol blue ground, the ivory brocade frogs seem to rise from the surface – a rich, quietly dramatic piece with a beautiful sense of rhythm and movement.

The textile is hand-sewn onto heavyweight linen and set within a bespoke oak frame. Seeming to float within the frame, its depth and texture invite a closer look – a striking statement piece that brings texture, depth and a softer acoustic to a room.

Each textile is woven by skilled artisans using heritage techniques, resulting in a piece that carries both craftsmanship and cultural meaning.

ABOUT THE ARTISANS

Our weavers are based in the remote village of San Pedro, Guatemala, working in a small workshop where the hum of the pedal looms fills the streets. We collaborate with a project dedicated to preserving ancient weaving traditions, sharing this craft with the world, and ensuring fair wages for artisans.
